Markenfilm SPACE wins contract to design 10+ interactive EU visitor centres

In a Europe-wide tender procedure, Markenfilm SPACE convinced the jury in Brussels and won a comprehensive contract: As a partner for the next four years, the Markenfilm Group’s Experience Unit will advise the EU Parliament and provide creative and technological support. The main task is the co-development of more than 10 new media Europe visitor centres („Europa Experience“) in various European metropolises: „We want to tell the story of the European idea and our EU democracy with interactive exhibits. Because what Europe is and what it stands for is more important than ever right now,“ says Christopher Schultz, Managing Director of SPACE. „We are incredibly proud of this win, because bringing Europe closer to the local people is a project close to our hearts. It also underlines our expertise in communication in the public sector once again.“ Markenfilm’s interactive studio has been managing a portfolio of EU clients for many years: As a partner of the ECB, SPACE is designing its new media visitor centre in Frankfurt on all aspects of the euro, SPACE is developing virtual & augmented reality apps in other framework agreements with the EU’s Luxembourg Publication Office, and multimedia exhibits will be created for the EU Commission in Brussels in 2024.

SPACE will once again be collaborating with Atelier Brückner (Stuttgart) for the upcoming „Europa Experience“ centres. Immersive film spaces will be created, as well as interactive projection tables and digital real-time exhibits that thematically illuminate the impact of EU policy on our lives. In addition to the scenographic design, the focus is primarily on the visitor experience and theUX: „The EU comprises 24 official languages and our interactive applications present their content in each of these languages,“ says Eva Abt, Project & Operations Director at SPACE. „We appreciate that when it comes to user-friendliness, we pay particular attention to ensuring that all visitor groups can be reached, especially children and people with visual and hearing impairments.“ For the implementation, SPACE comprises a diverse crew of concept and design, tech consulting and producing, content development, front-end and back-end programming, as well as an installation team for the exhibitions on site and remote support. From the heart of Hamburg – for the whole of Europe.

About Markenfilm SPACE
The interactive studio Markenfilm SPACE has been in existence since 2009, when it was founded as a unit of „Bildmacht“ (BM8). The design of „spaces“, whether digital, virtual or entirely haptic, is central to the Hamburg-based company: over time, it has created award-winning productions such as the „Invisible Drive“ for Mercedes, the artistic AI composition „For Seasons“ with the NDR orchestra, as well as interactive spatial experiences such as the FIFA Football Museum in Zurich, or interactive cultural mediation with highlight exhibits for the Humboldt Forum in Berlin.
